Spreading into the mainstream, the FIRE movement is changing the world. FIRE stands for Financial Independence Retire Early.
The basic goal of FIRE is simple: aggressively invest 50-75% of income in the stock market with hopes of retiring early using dividends. The FIRE movement is from 1992 when Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez published Your Money or Your Life. This book popularized the idea of not working a 9-5 job and presented achievable goals that formed the movement.
The Coronavirus has affected the movement and has led people to believe that it cannot stand its ground. However, the assumption that FIRE will not work during a recession is untrue because FIRE relies on dividends for retirement.
The movement will change the world because it will shape how we view retirement.
I believe that the FIRE movement is one set to boom further than it has already. It will move beyond what we thought possible as this period recovers and more people are in the FIRE game.
I am interested in obtaining FIRE, dedicating this blog to my journey. Recent FIRE events such as the coronavirus impact onto FIRE will belong to this blog. Assisting your learning about FIRE and its effects would be more than enough to make me proud of my work.
